Exhibit Tour with curator Susan Wheeler

Please join us on Friday at 11:00 am for a tour of the exhibit which introduces seven large drawings by Sue Coe based upon the patients and medical practice of pioneering art activist Dr. Eric Avery at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Acquired in 2015, the new drawings are exhibited with works from this and other series by Coe acquired over the past decade by the Cushing/Whitney Medical Library’s Collection of Prints and Drawings.

Sue Coe is considered one of the foremost political artists working today. A firm believer in the power of media to affect change, she has seen her graphic work published in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone and in the permanent collections of major museums such as Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, and Whitney Museum of American Art.
