Queer Labor
Thursday, April 14, 2016 @ 5:00pm - HGS Room 211
Historians of sexuality have rarely explored the queer history of the workplace, and labor historians have usually ignored the distinctive cultures, concerns, and experiences of LGBT workers. But how did work shape queer culture on and off the clock, and how did LGBT workers challenge and change workplace norms, the labor movement, and employment law? How have queer gender norms interacted with the gendering of labor? What might we learn by bringing labor history and queer history together?
