This year, the Yale Women’s Center is honored to host film director, published spoken word poet, and LGBTQ rights activist Sini Anderson for the Amy Rossborough Memorial Lecture.  Anderson will share her vast and varied experiences as a contemporary feminist artist-activist. Anderson is popularly known for directing the feminist documentary The Punk Singer (2013).  The film follows Kathleen Hanna on her road to becoming a feminist icon with the riot grrrl movement and a noted musician in Bikini Kill and Le Tigre.  In addition, Anderson is a founding contributor and co-artistic director at San Francisco’s Sister Spit, and has been featured in several spoken word performance tours.  Her work is featured in publications such as Word Warriors: 35 Women Leaders in the Spoken Word Revolution.  Anderson has inspired millions more in her role as Chief Artistic Director at the National Queer Arts Festival, co-producer at the Nectar Stage at San Francisco’s Pride, as president of the board of directors for the Harvey Milk Institute, and co-chair of the board of directors for The Queer Cultural Center.
