Eda Pepi is Assistant Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Yale beginning Fall 2017. Her research interests include gender and kinship, ethnicity and indigeneity, and citizenship, sovereignty, and the state in the Middle East and North Africa. Eda’s current project, Marital States: Ethnicity and Gendered Citizenship in Jordan, theorizes the relationship between gender and politics. She ethnographically examines how the Jordanian state polices its borders by regulating the marital and reproductive choices of Jordanian women.
