Claudia Valeggia

Claudia Valeggia is a Professor of Anthropology and an affiliate faculty member in the Program in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her teaching examines the female body from a feminist perspective, emphasizing how biological processes both shape and are shaped by cultural, social, and political contexts as an ongoing and complex entanglement. She also conducts research and teaches on sexgender in medicine, focusing on how assumptions about bodies and identities influence scientific knowledge and healthcare practices. Her interdisciplinary work bridges anthropology, feminist theory, and biomedicine, offering critical perspectives on embodiment.
