Sociology & WGSS

Joseph is a first year doctoral student in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Sociology departments. His research seeks to highlight the social inequality that people of color, queer people, and women face daily, as well as the social processes behind the persistence of the various forms of prejudice they face. These interests were reflected in his undergraduate honors thesis, “A Place for Politics: The Role of Undergraduate Education in Political Socialization”, in which Joseph explored the role of universities’ coursework, administrative policies, and community narratives in the development of American undergraduates’ perspectives on queerness, race, and ethnicity.
